Parts of the James Bond movie SkyFall were shot on this island.  The real story of the island is interesting enough to be the subject of movies.  It is called \u201cBattleship Island\u201d because Hashima Island resembles a giant warship.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1088\" width=\"839\" height=\"560\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir5.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1088\" width=\"839\" height=\"560\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>The island is located 3 kilometers from the coast.  Consisting of a tiny city, the island is 480 meters long and 160 meters wide.  In 1887, due to the presence of a coal mine on the island, it started to receive immigration and its population increased rapidly.  Over time, it has earned the title of the most populous city in the world.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1093\" width=\"841\" height=\"516\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir1.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1093\" width=\"841\" height=\"516\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>In the 1800s, when the industrialization was most intense in Japan, a very high quality coal began to be extracted in Hashima.  Thereupon, the island was bought by Mitsubishi in a short time.  After 1890, the mines on the island began to be operated by Mitsubishi.  The mines on the island go down to a depth of 1100 meters.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1087\" width=\"839\" height=\"560\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir6.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir6.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1087\" width=\"839\" height=\"560\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>Workers working in the coal mines and their families settled on the island and areas such as hospitals, playgrounds and cinemas were built on the island.  Thus, the population of the island increased to 5300.  The island has set a record as the city with the highest density of human population in the world.  In order to prevent it from being affected by flood disasters, high concrete walls were surrounded around the island.  In addition, the world&#8217;s first reinforced concrete building was built on this island and consists of approximately 9 floors.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1095\" width=\"839\" height=\"558\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir4.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1095\" width=\"839\" height=\"558\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>By the 1960s, the coal energy used in the Japanese industry changed and was completely replaced by petroleum energy.  With the oil gaining an important place in the energy market, the end of the island began to come slowly.  In 1974, Mitsubishi closed its coal mine.  The inhabitants of the island, who could not find a job to do on the island, left the island, even leaving behind many of their belongings.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1090\" width=\"839\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/ada11.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/ada11.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1090\" width=\"839\" height=\"420\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>Since 1974, no one has remained on the island, which was completely emptied.  Since then, the island, which has not been visited by anyone, is known as a ghost city.  The island, which was owned by Mitsubishi for 38 years, was given to the city government of Nagasaki free of charge in 2009.  The island, which is one of the most important indicators of the Industrial Revolution, is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"765\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1091\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir9-1024x765.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"765\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/hayalet-sehir9-1024x765.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1091\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>The island, which was closed to everyone for a long time, was planned to be opened to tourist visits after journalists started to enter the region in 2005.
