When Will It End?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>The Montreux Straits Convention is a convention that covers Turkey&#8217;s rights regarding the straits.  This convention, which is of international importance, contains many articles on the rights of countries at sea.  Due to Turkey&#8217;s geopolitical position, it includes decisions on the control of the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1077\" width=\"841\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/montro1.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/montro1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1077\" width=\"841\" height=\"473\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>The Montreux Straits Convention was signed in 1936.  In 1923, some decisions regarding the straits were taken in the Treaty of Lausanne, but later on these decisions were changed with the Montreux Convention.  In the decision taken in Lausanne regarding the straits, the dominance of the straits would be given to the Turks, but they would continue to be managed by an international commission.  Therefore, Turkey could not have full authority over the Straits.  However, in the Montreux Convention, the situation changed and full authority was given to the Turks.  It was decided to keep Turkish soldiers on both sides of the Bosphorus.  The issue of the straits, which was resolved against us in the Treaty of Lausanne, was resolved in our favor in the Montreux Convention and sovereignty was made permanent.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1078\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/bogazlar-1024x576.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/bogazlar-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1078\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>The Convention gives Turkey control over the Istanbul and \u00c7anakkale Straits.  It is an international convention that gives the right to regulate the passage of warships and civilian ships.  With this agreement, which gives Turkey full authority over the straits, it guarantees the free passage of civilian ships in peacetime.  In time of war, Turkey will have the right to close the straits if it has entered the war.  It will be able to limit the passage of warships belonging to countries that do not border the Black Sea.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"575\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1079\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/montro4-1024x575.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"575\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/montro4-1024x575.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1079\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>At the meeting held in Montreux, Switzerland;  The contract was signed with the participation of Bulgaria, France, Great Britain, Australia, Greece, Japan, Romania, Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Turkey.  The contract, which is normally valid for 20 years, will continue unless there is an objection.  This contract is still valid today.  Turkey received the support of the Soviet Union in accordance with the non-aggression agreement it had previously made with Soviet Russia.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"870\" height=\"402\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1080\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/montro.jpg\" data-lazy- title=\"\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"870\" height=\"402\" src=\"https:\/\/kasifiz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/montro.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1080\" title=\"\"><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>The Montreux Straits Convention consists of 29 articles.  In addition, there are 4 articles and a protocol.  In the first part, in which the articles of the contract are regulated, the transit regime of merchant ships is regulated.  According to this regulation, in peacetime, merchant ships will take full advantage of the freedom of passage through the straits, day and night, regardless of their flag and cargo.  The part arranged in the second part is about the transition regime of warships in peace and war.
