This term is used as an expression implying that the borders of the modern-day State of Israel will be expanded beyond the borders of the former British Mandate of Palestine to include, according to some sources, part of modern-day Syria or Turkey.

In addition to the establishment of the World Zionist Organization at the First Zionist Congress, there are also claims that the borders of the State of Israel, which was announced to be established in the future, will extend from the Nile to the Euphrates and that this state will be called Greater Israel.

The lands where Israel and Palestine are located today Land of Israel or Promised Land Also called. Promised Land, JudaismIt is considered the land promised by God YHVH to Abraham and his kin. Although the borders of this region are not exactly clear, it is widely believed that it includes the lands of Israel and the State of Palestine. This belief is also mentioned in the 15th Chapter of the Torah’s Genesis book:

“In that day the Lord made a covenant with Abraham, saying, To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, the Kenites, the Kenizzis, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

According to this statement, the Israelites were promised a wide region from the Euphrates River to the Nile River. However, since the limits of this definition are not fully specified, this issue is quite controversial. For this reason, there are different interpretations and opinions about the borders of the Promised Land.

Why Couldn’t Israeli Intelligence Prevent the Attack?

Experts consider that such a surprise attack requires a long preparation period, and that the failure of Israel’s domestic intelligence agency Shin Bet, the Mossad responsible for foreign intelligence, and the Israeli army to foresee this attack is a sign of weakness. The comprehensive attack on Israel by Hamas, which controls Gaza, also raised questions about how the country showed such weakness in a country thought to have the strongest intelligence infrastructure.

While thousands of rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, many Hamas members managed to cross the border fences, which were under tight security measures. Some crossed the border by parachute, and even a motorboat was filmed heading towards Zikim, an Israeli coastal town and military base. The Qassam Brigades captured many Israeli civilians and took them back to Gaza and documented these events with video recordings. Moreover, a Gazan television reporter caused surprise by broadcasting live about an attack from Israeli territory.

Former White House counterterrorism official Javed Ali, who taught at the University of Michigan Ford School, called the attack “impressive in its impact, sophistication and scope.” Speaking to the New York Times, Ali said Iran’s support likely played an important role, considering Iran’s long-standing relationship with Hamas and its provision of money, weapons and training.

Additionally, Israeli analysts believe that the 1973 incident that took place 50 years ago Yom Kippur Referring to the intelligence problems experienced during the war, they emphasized that such deficiencies could not be resolved in time.
