In the Bible, the Garden of Eden is called the garden of God and Paradise. It is stated that the garden is located in the east and a river running through it divides into four branches and irrigates the garden. These rivers continue to water the Garden of Eden and flow out of the garden. In the book, Hz. Adam and Hz. It is stated that Eve could live in the garden forever if they obeyed God.
The statements in the Torah on the subject are as follows;
“And God made a garden in the east, in Eden, and placed the Adam he had created there. And the Lord cut down from the ground every tree that was good in appearance and good in eating, and in the middle of the garden the tree of life, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And a river came out of Eden to water the garden. From there it split and became four branches. One is called Pishon; He besieges all the land of Havilah, which has gold in it, and the gold of this land is good; There are white frankincense and agate stones. And the name of the second river is Gihon; it is he who encompasses the entire province of Kush. And the name of the third river is Tigris; It is he who flows before Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.” (Genesis 2:8-14)
Although there are sectarian differences in Christianity, as in most religions, most of them accept what is written in the Torah. The Islamic faith, on the other hand, adopts the term Garden of Eden with an eschatological meaning and is called “Adn” in Islam. This garden will be given to people with good deeds as a layer of paradise.
It is described in the Qur’an as follows;
“They will enter the Gardens of Eden, under which rivers flow and they have everything they want there. This is how Allah rewards the pious.” (16/Nahl 31)
”These (there are); for them are the Gardens of Eden under which rivers flow. There they are adorned with gold bracelets. They wear green dresses made of thin and thick silk. There, they were built on cedars. What a wonderful reward and what a beautiful mansion.” (18/Kahf 31)
Where is the Garden of Eden?
Some researchers, considering the location of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, think that the paradise of Eden is Diyarbakir or that region. However, some researchers have concluded that the Nile for the Gihon river and the Indus river for the Pishon river. The Egyptian region can also be considered in this regard.
There are also those who think that Gihon corresponds to Ceyhun and Pişon corresponds to Seyhun river. The pronunciation of these two words seems more appropriate. According to some, this region is Iraq. However, there are different narrations on this subject and it is not scientifically possible to reach a definite judgment. Many domestic and foreign researchers have different interpretations on this issue.
From the expressions in the Qur’an, Hz. It is possible, and even more appropriate, to understand that the paradise in which Adam settled is not in the real world, but in the heavens in the heavens. The word paradise means vineyard. Paradise got this name because it is full of parks, rivers, vineyards and greenery.
Hz. Adam and Hz. The Story of Eve’s Expulsion from Eden
Allah’s testing of His servants has continued since the beginning of human history. First, Allah created Hadrat Adam and ordered the angels to prostrate to him. This was the test of angels and all angels passed this test. However, Satan rebelled against the order to prostrate and lost the test. Satan was a jinn-like being with sensual desires, and under the influence of these sensual desires, he disobeyed Allah’s command. This is also the test of people; people should be freed from the influence of their nafs and follow Allah’s orders.

The nafs, trying to prevent man from being subject to God’s command, began its first struggle with man in Paradise, with the delusion of Satan. Satan, St. By making Eve a vehicle, Hz. He tried to make Adam accept his desires and wishes. As part of his duty, Satan was using various tricks to deceive both of them.
“Then the devil gave them delusions to show each other their hidden shame. Your Lord said to you, ‘You will be one of the angels or you will be one of the eternal ones’. (Â’raf, 20)
“And he swore to them: ‘Truly I am of those who counsel you…’” (Â’raf, 21)
“So he deceived them by deception. When they (they) tasted the fruit of the tree, their shame was revealed to them. They began to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise. Their Lord said to them: ‘Did I not forbid you that tree? And did I not say that the devil is an open enemy to you?’ he called out.” (Â’raf, 22)
Hz. Adam and Hz. When Eve realized Iblis’ deception, they immediately repented and begged God’s forgiveness. Because of their repentance, Allah showed them the way of salvation and created a garment to cover their faults. This garment was called the taqwa dress, protecting the heart and mind from bad feelings and thoughts, and enabling the servant to realize his responsibility towards Allah. He emphasizes that only known clothes are not enough to cover people’s faults, and that the clothes of taqwa should also be worn.
Hz. Adam and Hz. Eve, they are expelled from heaven as a result of believing Satan’s lies. There are different opinions among the scholars about whether the Garden of Eden is the same as the Paradise in the Hereafter. According to Kisas-i Anbiya, Hz. Adam to Sri Lanka, Hz. Eve, on the other hand, is sent to Ethiopia and later they meet on Mount Arafat in Mecca. This parable has an important place in Islamic culture.
In the Qur’an, Hz. While there is no information that Adam lived for 1000 or 2000 years, he entered Islam through hadiths. According to reliable hadith sources (such as Bukhari and Muslim), Hz. Adam’s height is considered to be 60 zira (approximately 35-48 meters).
