A giant skyscraper in Guiyang, China, has been turned into an artificial waterfall. Liebian International Building is a building that aims to make a difference in skyscraper architecture with its 108-meter-high waterfall. Described as one of the tallest artificial waterfalls in the world, the waterfall was built by Ludi Industry Group. The skyscraper consisting of a complex structure; It houses offices, luxury hotels and a shopping mall.
The 121-meter-tall Liebian International Building is located in southwest Guiyang, China. The waterfall, which works with 4 pumps, takes the water from the underground tanks thanks to the pumps. Underground tanks are formed by the accumulation of rainwater. The waterfall is operated only a few times a year due to its high cost.

Cheng Xiamao, director of Ludi Industry Group, stated that Guiyang is a city full of mountains and trees. He explained that the aim of architecture is to create a natural feeling among skyscrapers. However, since the hourly cost of the waterfall is quite high, it is run occasionally.
There is an underground water storage and drainage system on four floors of the building. Water is recycled and pumped with the help of this system. The structure and system of this building aim to save energy and use recyclable water resources. The waterfall in the building is arranged according to the height of the building, providing energy savings. In addition, the underground tanks, which are the source of the waterfall’s water, were designed to keep the damage of the building to a minimum.

The 120-metre tall Liebian International Building is located in the downtown business district in a public plaza. On the first day of its operation, it was thought of as a water leak by the local people and after the involvement of journalists, it was realized that it was a large waterfall. It was said that the project would use recycled water on special occasions and would be beneficial from a touristic point of view, but it still aroused reactions among the residents of the city. It is accepted that the building is also valuable for the city as a symbolic structure.
