The Jashak Salt Dome or Salt Mountain is a large area located on the southern slope of the Zagros Mountains in Bushehr province in southern Iran. This area is one of the largest, most active and most beautiful salt domes of Iran and the Middle East. On the mountain, which is frequented by thousands of tourists every year; cave waterfall and colorful salt domes.

The salt domes cover an area of ​​12 kilometers long and 4 and a half kilometers wide. The area where the salt domes are located is approximately 3066 hectares. It is located at an altitude of 1350 meters above sea level. There are about 114 salt domes in the region.

Salt domes are available for use in industrial areas as well as edible salts. There are unique salt domes and caves in red, brown, white, yellow, black, orange colors. There are also salt glaciers, waterfalls and crystals. It is known that the domes were formed during the Late Precambrian and early Paleozoic periods.

The white salt domes in the area provide a beautiful snowy mountain view from afar. Some parts of the dome resemble an ice glacier. Salt waterfalls, which emerge with the evaporation of water in hot and dry weather, are one of the touristic attractions. These waterfalls flow naturally through the dome. It is seen from mid-spring to summer and autumn.

One of the other features of the region is the salt caves. The caves were formed by the collapse of salt deposits around the dome. Inside the caves are beautiful stalagmites and stalactites in the form of salt crystals.

The colorful and striking patterns formed on the salt dome were formed as a result of water erosion. It is called one of the most beautiful geological erosion formations in the world. Non-silicate minerals such as pyrite and fluorine, many salt crystals with metallic and non-metallic bright color variations are located in this area.

The formation of domes occurs with the accumulation of salt in a limited sea air. In the salt-rich sea basin, the water usually evaporates because there is no flow. In this way, it causes the precipitation and accumulation of salts.
