Çin’in Guizhou eyaletinde bulunan Gandeng Dağı, son derece ilginç bir oluşuma sahip.
The spawning cliff, located on the mountainside, is about 6 meters wide and 20 meters long. The eggs formed in this part, which covers a small area compared to the size of the mountain, fall to the ground. Egg-shaped stones were discovered by locals by accident. It was revealed that the mountain, which was examined later, lays an egg about once every 30 years.

The locals living in the nearby Gulu Village have heard many stories about the mountain spawning from their childhood. They visit the area and try to find a stone egg that has grown enough and has fallen to the ground. According to the locals, stone eggs in nature are considered sacred and believed to bring good luck. Locals go to the foot of the mountain to touch the sacred stones at least 1-2 times a year.
Every family living in the region has these eggs in their house. Stone eggs; It is thought to bring prosperity and security to people, animals, homes. For this reason, the stones are highly respected by the collectors. Due to the importance given to the stones, their material value in the market is also quite high.
Stone eggs falling from the mountain usually range in size from 20 to 60 centimeters. Almost perfectly smooth, the stones are in dark blue hues. The largest of the stones, which have different sizes, is over 270 kilograms. The stones taken to the houses by the people are cleaned, polished and maintained. More than 100 stone eggs were collected by the locals at the base of the mountain after the spawning mountain was discovered.

Information on the Formation of Stone Eggs
How the stone eggs, which are the subject of research by geologists, were formed and how they came out of the mountain have not been fully resolved. In line with the researches, some theories have been put forward, but no clear conclusion has been reached. According to the theories put forward; The rocks in the region were formed during the Cambrian period, about 500 million years ago. It is thought that these eggs on the mountain were also formed at that time.
The Cambrian period is the time period when the majority of animal groups in the world emerged and diversified. It is thought that the eggs may have formed during this period when many parts of the world were under water. Stone eggs are thought to have emerged as metamorphic rocks as a result of heat and compression. Metamorphic rocks are igneous and sedimentary rocks that are formed underground by exposure to intense heat and pressure for a long time.

Professor Xu Ronghua from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; He claims that stone eggs were composed of silicon dioxide, which was abundant in that region, during the Cambrian period. The sphere shape has a smaller surface area compared to other shapes. For this reason, silicon dioxide particles stick together in a spherical form in water before being trapped in metamorphic rocks. Underwater contributes to the roundness and smoothness of the stones. The currents surrounding the rocks and the ripples created by sea creatures roll the rocks across the ocean floor. This allows the rocks to turn into smoother, more rounded shapes.
