The US National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) held a public press conference, providing information on Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) and Unidentified Aerial Incident (UHO) for the first time.
NASA held a public press conference on the topics of Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) and Unidentified Air Event (UHO), based on the data it obtained as a result of nearly seven months of research.
A special team led by Scott Kelly, a former astronaut, studied unidentified objects or events in the sky, underwater or in space as part of the investigations that began in June 2022. NASA’s press conference was the platform where this team introduced their work and the new term UAP (Unidentified Aerial Event).
Air Events That Are Not Aircraft or Natural Disasters
In the meeting, which lasted more than four hours, information on research titled “weather events that are not planes or natural disasters” was shared. At the same time, an image was presented last year that showed a metal sphere moving rapidly over buildings, recorded by a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). However, the nature of the object has not yet been determined. Sean Kirkpatrick, Manager of the Office of Anomaly Resolution in All Areas (AARO), stated that similar metal objects have been observed around the world and said, “We see that these objects perform very interesting maneuvers.” Kirkpatrick stated that these objects do not pose a clear threat to security in the air, but more data is needed.
At the meeting, it was also stated that the images of three moving points recorded by an aircraft belonging to the US Navy were shared. However, it was announced that these images were not actually UFOs and were lights belonging to large commercial aircraft.
Over 800 Unidentified Weather Events
The research team noted that over 800 Unidentified Air Events (UAPs) have been reported worldwide. However, it was stated that only 2 percent to 5 percent of these reports fall into the “probably abnormal” category. It also noted a “significant increase” in UAP observations following the detection of a Chinese bubble over the US earlier this year.
The team stressed the importance of disproving UFO sightings as well as proving them. Scott Kelly stated that while he was flying near Virginia Beach, a colleague “convinced him that they were flying with a UFO”. “I didn’t see it. We turned around and realized that it was Bart Simpson, it was a balloon.”
Life Beyond Earth Not Found, But Being Researched
“When I had to recap, I realized we needed high-quality data,” said David Spergel, leader of the NASA team, in his keynote speech as head of a NASA team examining UAPs. He also stated that life has not yet been found beyond Earth, but research is continuing on this subject.
In response to a question, NASA leaders David Spergel, commenting on whether they have encountered aliens or extraterrestrial life, said, “We now know that there are many planets, so there are many environments where life has the potential to exist. “We haven’t found life outside of Earth yet, but we’re continuing our research.”
When asked about how to approach the discovery of aliens, David Grinspoon stated that this is not their mission. However, he stated that if aliens are discovered, they will “share their discoveries”. The NASA team announced that the report on the UAPs will be published in July.
