Moses experienced many miracles in every period of his life with the protection of Allah. The most well-known among these is undoubtedly his splitting the sea with his staff. Hz. The miracle that Moses and the sons of Israel experienced while crossing the Red Sea has been the subject of many studies.
In some archaeological researches, the road followed to the Red Sea after leaving Egypt and the Pharaoh and Hz. The places where the Prophet Moses faced were also determined. As revealed in the Qur’an, Allah split the sea at this time, and Hz. Moses and the sons of Israel were saved. Pharaoh and his men remained under the raging waters.
How Did Science Explain the Miracle?
As a result of scientific research, Hz. The region determined as the place where Moses crossed the Red Sea is geographically surrounded by mountains. As stated in the verse, the only place to go is the Red Sea in front of them. Because behind them is the army of Pharaoh. God, He ordered Moses to use his staff, and Hz. Moses obeyed this order, and on this occasion the sea was divided into two. However, Pharaoh and his army, who tried to cross the coast by following the same road, were destroyed by drowning due to the closing of the sea.
Scientists who conducted research in line with this information, after some examinations and studies, reached striking conclusions about how the sea was divided into two. The results of the research are exactly the same as the event mentioned in the Qur’an. It has been proven that it is possible to divide the Red Sea in two.
Contrary to the probability calculation of the miracle, the researchers examined the conditions that could create the miracle. The starting point of the research, which lasted about six months, was a giant rock in the sea. The intensity of the storm and the speed of the wind were calculated to keep the rock above the water level. The wind, whose speed reached 100 kilometers per hour, caused the sea to recede and rose above the rocky water level. It was concluded that in case the waters receded, the Israelites could reach the opposite shore by following the rocks. When the wind stopped, the rocks were flooded again, and the Pharaoh and his army that followed them drowned. This event explains the scientific aspect of the miracle.
But it should not be forgotten that there is always the possibility of this natural event. By Allah’s will, this miracle can be experienced again when conditions such as the speed, place and time of the wind become suitable. However, the real miraculous aspect of the issue is that these events are exactly what Hz. Moses and the sons of Israel appear when needed. Undoubtedly, Allah is the One Who answers the prayers of the believers and is merciful.
