Yaren Stork, known for her friendship with Adem Yılmaz, who is followed by large masses in Türkiye, completed her migration journey and returned home. The meeting, which is eagerly awaited every year, took place for the 15th time this season and has come to the fore again as one of the symbolic examples of the nature-human relationship.
The Return in Eskikaraağaç
Yaren Stork landed on the boat in Eskikaraağaç Stork Village and reached the village. Due to its shy attitude in the first days, the arriving stork was initially mistaken for another individual. Adem Yılmaz, who could not go to the lake due to the cold weather conditions in the region, observed the movements of the stork closely.
The Encounter That Turned From Mistake to Joy
Adem Yılmaz stated that they initially thought the stork that came on February 24 was Yaren’s wife Nazlı. The stork’s physical appearance as weaker and smaller led to this evaluation. However, subsequent observations revealed that the guest returning to the village was Yaren. Yılmaz stated that this year was one of the earliest periods in which Yaren arrived and emphasized that Yaren is not only a bird but also a creature with symbolic value for the village.
Yaren Stork in Village Culture
Yaren Stork lives in the village for about six months every year. Storks, which display the behavior of raising offspring together with their partners during this process, continue their migration journey at the end of August after the offspring grow up and are brought back to nature.

The moments of Yaren’s arrival were recorded by wildlife photographer Alper Tüydeş and shared on social media. Tüydeş stated in his statement that they had been watching the sky for days to see Yaren, but the stork was waiting cautiously on the roof and in the garden in the first days.
