The People of Pompeii Turned to Stone and What Happened

According to the belief, it is thought that as a result of the perverted behavior of the people of Pompeii, people were turned into stone by God. 1929 years ago, the Roman Empire ruled in the city of Pompeii. At the head of the empire was King Caligula. This king was in love with his own sister, and the king was in rather perverted behavior. The people were in the same perversion as if imitating the king. There were brothels all over the city.

The people of Pompeii were fond of drinking and entertainment. Prostitution and slavery were extremely common. They tortured the slaves by making them fight. Society has gone astray so much that homosexuality has become a normal thing. The people, who were fond of entertainment, eating and drinking, were trying to eat more by vomiting after eating. While some people lived in such luxury, the slave group, which made up half of the population, was in hunger and misery.

Events on the Day of the Disaster:

There was a small earthquake on the day of the disaster, but it was not given much importance by the people. The weather was a bit stifling that day. Mount Vesuvius erupted and lava was gushing out. After the earthquake, ash rain started and the people were trying to flee in a hurry.

Some of the people rushed to the port to get rid of the city, and some of them closed themselves at home. He tried to protect himself by locking the doors tightly. The people were horrified by what happened and did not know what to do.

At the same time, the sea swelled and grains of sand began to fall from the sky. It was raining sulfur from the sky and people could not protect themselves from the sulfur smoke, they fell to the ground in fainting. The events happened within a few hours and the city was destroyed in an instant. Approximately 16,000 people were turned to stone. The city of Pompeii was engulfed in lava flowing from the volcano.

It is thought that the people of Pompeii are the People of Lot, who are known to be punished and mentioned in the Qur’an. The events experienced by the people of Lut and Pompeii, which are told in the Qur’an and said to have turned into stone, are very similar.

How Do Scientists Explain the People’s Turning to Stone?

Scientists explain the reason why the people of Pompeii turned into stone as follows. It is said that the sulfur gas that comes out after the volcanic eruption is toxic and people die because of this. It is thought that the corpses turned into stone and survived until today because ash and sulfur gas covered the dead people.

The sulfur and ash layer that fell on the city ensured that the city was extremely well protected. It is so well preserved that it is said that even the bread baked on the day of the event was found during the excavations. Everything in the city is preserved as it is turned into stone. The city of Pompeii was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997.
