The tomb of His Holiness Ukkaşe, located in Gaziantep’s Nurdağı district, and the mosque and other structures around it were destroyed due to the earthquake. One person died under the collapsed debris. The tomb was located in Durmuşlar Neighborhood, 19 kilometers from Nurdağı district center, at a point overlooking the region. Citizens living in Gaziantep visited the region after the earthquake and expressed that they were saddened by the mosque that was destroyed as a result of the disaster.

Hz. Ukkaşe was among the first Muslims to accept Islam in Mecca. On this occasion, he was with the Prophet until his death. He participated in almost all wars with the Holy Prophet and was accepted as one of the people of Suffa. He is known for turning the staff given to him into a sword after his sword was broken in the Battle of Badr. The incident that took place between them, close to the death of the Prophet, after he ordered the one who has the right to come and take it, set a good example emphasizing the importance of the right of the servant.

Although his father’s name is generally stated as Mihsan, it is seen that he is also mentioned as Muhassin, Muhsin in some sources. Hz. The name of Ukkaşe started to be known as Ökkeş in Anatolia over time, and villages bearing his name were established. In the Ottomans, Hz. There were also those who claimed to be descendants of Ukkaşe. Hz. Ukkaşe’s tombs are located in Gaziantep and Jerusalem.
Hz. Ukkaşe is one of the Companions who were given the good news of heaven while he was alive. Our Prophet (saas) one day; When he said, “Seventy thousand people from my ummah will enter Paradise pure and clean”, Hz. Ukkaşe b. Mihsan; ‘O Messenger of Allah! He said, “Pray to Allah so that I can be one of them.” Our Prophet (saas) said, “You are one of them,” and prayed to him. The only Companion who kissed the Seal of Prophethood was Hz. Ukkaşe (ra) was a lover of prophets, a lover of prophets. Because of that love, he is a Companion who started kissing the seal of prophecy, the sign of prophecy, which is between the shoulder blades of our Prophet.
