Our master, the Prophet of mercy, for whose sake the world was created. Muhammad (pbuh) performed many miracles on earth throughout his life. However, unforgettable miracles took place on the night our Prophet came to the world.
In a sacred hadith, Almighty Allah says, “If it weren’t for you, O Muhammad, I wouldn’t have created the worlds..” It states: This expression shows that Almighty Allah created all beings for the sake of our Prophet and addressed him as “habibim”. It is also rumored that he had the name Muhammad written along with his own name on the gate of heaven.
The prophet of mercy, known as the lover of the entire universe, Hz. He is the great savior whose future was heralded by all prophets starting from Adam. He is considered a leader who brought humanity to prosperity. The birth of Habibullah, which had been awaited since the creation of humanity, took place full of great miracles. When he was born in Mecca at sunrise on the twelfth Monday of the month of Rabiul-Awwal, in 571 AD, it was one of the moments when these miracles peaked. Some of the miracles that occurred during our Prophet’s arrival to the world are as follows:
A Star Was Born on the Night They Arrived
On the night when our Prophet was born, there were many books and people who had knowledge about the stars among the Jewish scholars. These scholars understood that a star shining in the sky that night heralded the birth of the Prophet of the End Times. Famous poet Hassan bin Thabit (ra) described this incident with the following words: “I was either alive or not when I was eight years old. I know, one morning, a Jew ran up and shouted, ‘Hey Jews!’ he shouted. The other Jews said, ‘What is it, why are you screaming like that?’ They surrounded him saying: This Jew was exclaiming: “’For your information, Ahmed’s star was born tonight. Ahmed was born tonight.’”
Destruction of Kisra’s Palace
On the night the Lord of the Universe was born, an unforgettable event took place in the city of Madayin. The clocks showing the moment of birth caused a great noise that shook the city of Madayin, which was in deep sleep. The people and the ruler witnessed this event. Fourteen of the solid towers of the Palace of Kisra collapsed with a crunch. This incident prompted a rally of Kisra’s government officials. Iranian chief minister Mubezan believed that this event symbolized a great change, explaining that he saw in his dream hundreds of roaring camels crossing the Tigris River and spreading into Iranian lands.
Cleansing the Kaaba from Idols
Although the Quraysh polytheists accepted the Kaaba as the house of Allah, they filled it with idols. However, on the night our Prophet was born, these idols fell to the ground with a terrible crash. This event was a sign that the Prophet, who came to the world, would eliminate the belief in polytheism and spread the belief in Tawhid.
The Extinguishing of the Fire of the Zoroastrians
The Zoroastrians deified a huge pile of fire that had been burning for more than a thousand years. However, with the birth of our Prophet, this fire suddenly went out. This event symbolized that the coming Prophet would eliminate superstitions such as idolatry and fire worship and enlighten the world with the light of Tawhid.
Drying of Lake Sava (Taberiyya)
The night our Prophet was born, the famous Lake Sava (Taberiyya) suddenly it dried up. This event was a sign that the coming person would prohibit things that were consecrated without God’s permission.
Flooding of the Samave Valley
On the night our Prophet was born, the Samawah Valley was flooded and covered with water. Terrified, the townspeople survived by taking refuge in the mountains and hills. They wrote a letter to Kisra informing him of the situation and requested food and drink aid.
A Magnificent Light Emerged with His Birth
Truly extraordinary events took place on the night when our Prophet (peace be upon him) was born. One of these events was Hz. It is the granting of a magnificent light that emerged with the birth of Muhammad (pbuh). This light has illuminated beyond the borders of the east and the west. It was so bright and impressive that even the palaces of Damascus shone with this light. At the same time, even the necks of the camels in the desert became clearly visible in this brightness.
Stars Falling from the Sky Dome
On the night of our Prophet’s birth, it was as if clusters of stars fell from the dome of the sky. This event marked the beginning of a period when devils and jinn would no longer receive news from the sky. Because the Holy Prophet was sent to the world through revelation, and from now on, the work of soothsayers, prophets and jinns had to be put to an end. This expressed the necessity for them not to cast doubt on the revelation and not to imitate it.
Previously, there were many soothsayers, but this practice ended with the revelation of the Quran. Many soothsayers even converted to Islam because they could no longer find informants from whom they could get news about the jinn. These events were signs heralding the appearance of the Prophet Muhammad and they did not occur by chance. All, Hz. It was foretelling that Muhammad (pbuh) would come as the prophet of the end times.
What is Mawlid Kandili?
Mawlid Kandili, according to the Islamic calendar, is the day of our Prophet Muhammad. It is considered to be the month and day of the birth of Muhammad (pbuh). Mawlid Kandili, the day our Prophet was born, falls on the 12th day of the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal. Muslims celebrate this special day by worshiping, praying, reciting Hatim and doing charity work. It is believed that the birth of our Prophet is a great blessing and guidance that he brought to humanity, therefore Mawlid Kandili has a special importance.
Mawlid is also considered an independent literary genre of Islamic literature. “Mevlid”, which is originally derived from the Arabic word “veladet” meaning “to be born”, “time of birth” or “place of birth”, has become a general name given to works of this type over time. Mevlid, an important part of Islamic literature, is a tradition of our Prophet Muhammad. It is a name given to literary texts read or composed at the ceremonies celebrating the birthday of Muhammad (pbuh).
