Scientists Found Water on the Moon

Chinese scientists announced that they discovered water in small glass beads on the Moon’s surface. The researchers think these glass beads are the main source of the water cycle on the Moon’s surface and could be used in future exploration. A team led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences examined 117 glass beads collected by the Chang’e-5 spacecraft in December 2020.

Mahesh Anand, professor of planetary science at the Open University in England, said in a statement about the research that they observed water molecules “bouncing” on the Moon’s surface in sunny weather. However, he added that they do not know exactly where the water comes from.

About three to five percent of the lunar soil is made up of glass beads, according to research published in the journal Nature Geoscience.
