Mount Danigala is a uniquely shaped rock located near Aralaganwila province in the Polonnaruwa region of Sri Lanka. The unusual circular shape of the rock and the locals’ reports of UFO sightings led to the mountain being referred to as “alien mountain”. A strange vegetation surrounds the mountain, making it suspicious for alien activity. There are also many temples and caves around the mountain. On the walls inside the cave are Neolithic petroglyphs and symbols that do not match anything else.

Danigala Mountain, considered a sacred site by the locals, supports the theory of extraterrestrials. A popular hiking area in the middle of the forest, the mountain has a completely flat top on its circular form. The circular flat top is thought to be a runway used for UFO landings. According to the locals, the mountain attracts shooting stars, thunder and lightning from the sky like nowhere else.

It is thought that the round road-like structure on the top of the mountain was not made by humans. Caves and Inscriptions Near Mount Danigala
In the area where the mountain is located, 70 caves dating back to the 2nd century were found. In one of these caves is a large reclining Buddha statue. The Buddha statue, made of brick and reaching 38.9 feet tall, was destroyed by treasure hunters. There are many unusual rock paintings on the cave walls. Among the inscriptions carved into the rock, King Saddatissa and his son are also mentioned. The inscriptions also mention many donors of the caves.
In caves on the northwest slope of Mount Danigala, the new discovery of petroglyphs found in 2020 has been documented. Hieroglyph-like symbols were first discovered during archaeological and geological surveys in Sri Lanka. The unusual petroglyphs were found by Aravindou Ravibhanu Sumanaratna, Astrobiologist and Exogeologist of the South Asian Astrobiology and Earth Sciences Research Unit, Eco Astronomy Sri Lanka, and his team.
Incomprehensible runic symbols, anthropomorphic figures, peacocks, plants, dogs, ladders, arrows, bows and geometric signs are found on almost every wall in the caves. It is argued that these signs, which seem to be arranged in an aimless way, are actually an old “link code” representing the “lost astronomical counting system”. According to the common belief among the local people; In these symbols associated with aliens, people from the heavens were taught to write and given information about the universe.
