Making a statement after the great earthquake, Admiral Yaycı; He reminded once again of the exercise in which the USA planned to invade Turkey, and therefore drew attention to the fact that Turkey should always be alert and prepared.
Admiral Yaycı said;
“Unfortunately, our country is located in the Alpine-Himalayan earthquake belt. It is not possible to consider such a geological phenomenon independently of our country’s security and emergency policies, or to ignore the planned scenarios and threats that our country is or may be exposed to.
So much so that a similar scenario was scripted by the USA in 2002 for exercise purposes, called ‘The Challenge of the Thousand Years’. This scenario was played out on July 24, 2002 in a 22-day exercise. According to the scenario; ‘The destination country controls some sea routes. He has severe problems with an island nation. There will be a huge earthquake in this country. The civilian government cannot fight the earthquake, and in case of chaos, the army seizes the situation. An international call for help is made. The United States requires that aid be made by its own soldiers. Thus, a war breaks out between the army of the target country and the US army, which is suspicious of the amount and activities of the US soldiers entering the country, and the country is occupied within 96 hours.
According to the Associated Press’s claim, it was reported that the target country was Turkey in the exercise scenario.
Security Aspects Should Be Considered
The earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2022 affected provinces such as Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, Gaziantep, Kilis and Diyarbakır. The military and social risks of this earthquake should be carefully evaluated and analyzed, including the refugee camps and neighborhoods in these provinces. The importance of social psychological structure and security dimensions is clear.
