The mystery of the fish in the fountain known as “fishy eye”, located in Şebinkarahisar district of Giresun, is still unsolved. Local people state that those who eat these mysterious fish are incurable and suffer from all kinds of troubles. Moreover, there are only three fish in the fountain, and the number of these fish appears to neither decrease nor increase.

Providing information about the secret of the fish in İkioğul District of Şebinkarahisar, Mayor Şahin Yılancı made a statement about the legend told in the region:
Ophiuchus, “I also live in this neighborhood. According to a rumor, a man living here was very stingy, but his bride and wife were very generous. When the bride and mother-in-law distributed the bread they made in the tandoor to their neighbors, the man got very angry and threw them into the tandoor fire. The tandoor suddenly turned into boiling water from the ground, and the bride and mother-in-law turned into fish. Since the bride is also pregnant, two fish always appear, and the third fish appears very rarely. “Although the bottom of the boiling water is clearly visible from the tandoor-shaped ground, this is what has been known and believed here for centuries.” said.

Even though those who eat fish are never free from trouble, the fish never become scarce
Canan Aktuna, who stated that the “fish tank” in the garden of their grandfather’s house has witnessed many mysterious events, said that those who eat the fish experience various problems, but the fish supply never decreases.
Aktuna, “This house is our ancestors’ house. When I was a child, people used to come here to make wishes and pray. Nowadays, there are still people coming, but not as many as before. They live here in a spring that boils from the ground, in a well made like a tandoor. As far as I can remember, there have been two fish. Very rarely, there are three fish. However, they never come out with four or one fish. Once, someone who wanted to get water from here to his house through a pipe ate a fish that got stuck in the pipe. But we had no problems. But the fish did not disappear from the well.” said.
Hüsniye Aktuna said that people still come to the fountain where the fish are located and pray, “There are those who have come before and believe that their wishes have been granted. Those people still come and pray for thanksgiving. As far as I can remember, these fish do not increase or decrease in any way. According to what our grandfathers and grandmothers told us, these fish were always the same shape.” he spoke.
