The explosion that occurred in an explosives production factory in Balıkesir caused great loss of life. In the incident, 12 people lost their lives and 5 people were injured. Making a statement, Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu stated that the explosion took place in the capsule production section of the factory and that the building collapsed after the explosion.
The governor reported that the fire was under control and cooling efforts were continuing. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan He ordered that an investigation into the explosion be launched immediately. Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç also announced that an investigation was opened by the Balıkesir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the incident and that an expert panel was appointed to investigate the cause of the explosion.

Stating that the building collapsed after the explosion, Ustaoğlu said that there were dead and injured people in the incident. According to the information given by the governor, no one was left inside after the explosion and the fire was taken under control. The governor stated that the possibility of sabotage is not on the agenda for now.

Erdoğan stated that they were deeply saddened by the incident in which 12 workers lost their lives. “We received information about the explosion from all relevant institutions, especially our Balıkesir Governor, and gave instructions to immediately initiate the necessary investigation in all its aspects.” he said.
Investigation Statement from Minister of Justice Tunç
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that an investigation was launched after the explosion. Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Balıkesir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, 4 public prosecutors were assigned under the coordination of a deputy chief prosecutor. In addition, a 5-person expert committee consisting of chemical, mechanical, occupational safety and geophysical engineers was assigned to investigate the cause of the explosion. The identities of those who lost their lives in the incident will be determined through an examination by the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute.
Balıkesir Mayor Akın: “All Workers Were Rescued”
Balıkesir Mayor Ahmet Akın, who was broadcast on NTV, announced that all workers inside were removed safely during the rescue efforts after the explosion.
