Who is Baba Vanga? Past and Future Prophecies

The prophecies put forward by Baba Vanga, a priest of Bulgarian origin, who are known by the whole world, attract great attention. Who is Baba Vanga?

Baba Vanga; real name Vangelia PanDeva Dimitrova was born on January 31, 1911 in the Bulgarian village of Strumitza (now Macedonia), which was then under the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Because her birth date came two months earlier than expected, she was given the name Vangelia, meaning “bringer of good news.” Baba Vanga’s father, Pande Surtcev, was sentenced to prison in the Seven Towers dungeons for a certain period of time for founding a gang. Her mother, Paraskeva, died when Baba Vanga was only three years old, giving birth to her second child.

Vangelia’s childhood passed as an ordinary girl. However, as a result of an incident at the age of 13, she was dragged under the ground by the rain flood and both eyes were inflamed and she became blind. In 1925, she started attending a school for the blind in Zemun, close to Belgrade, as a boarder. Having studied at the school for the blind for three years, Vanga learned to do housework on her own, such as cleaning, cooking and knitting. Although Baba Vanga was blind, her other senses developed over time and attracted attention with her intuition. She is also said to be associated with interesting events by some people.

Vanga’s talents spread rapidly, and many people began to learn about the future from her. Allegedly, Baba Vanga was a seer who could make accurate predictions about health problems, finding missing persons, and national and international events. It was claimed that Vanga had a source of energy and therefore could foresee events. Many people had great confidence in Baba Vanga’s predictions and took their predictions for the future seriously.

Baba Vanga married Dimitar Gushterov on May 10, 1942. The couple, who do not have biological children of their own, adopted a 3-year-old girl named Veneta. After the death of his wife, Baba Vanga started to raise a boy named Dimitar Valtcev under his protection. She died of breast cancer on August 11, 1996 at the age of 85.

The prophecies that Baba Vanga made while she was alive were written down by the Bulgarians and kept and many of her prophecies came true. Moreover, Baba Vanga succeeded in impressing many statesmen with her prophecies, including former communist dictator Todor Jivkov, who was overthrown in Bulgaria in 1989.

Legitimacy of Prophecies by the State

Baba Vanga has been known for her prophecies since her childhood. When this talent was noticed, she started working at the Sofia Parapsychic and Suggestion Science Institute. In 1967, his prophecies were accepted as legitimate by the state and he was taken into municipal service.
