Throughout history, humanity has witnessed many events in which many communities that have deviated from the principles of faith and morality have been the target of divine wrath. The people of the tribes of Noah, Ad and Thamud, known for their arrogance; Pharaoh, who resisted the prophets, saw himself as gods, and was eventually destroyed by a flood; Nimrod, who could not prevent even a fly from ruling; Examples such as the people of Lot, who lived far from moral values, were involved in oppression and rebellion and eventually left this world.
Allah Almighty states as follows: “Have not the stories of the communities that lived in the past reached them, the people of Noah, Ad and Thamud, the people of Abraham, the people of Midyan and the cities that were destroyed? His prophets came with clear miracles. Allah did not intend to wrong, but they wronged themselves.” (at-Tawbah, 70)
According to our holy book, the Quran, and the teachings of our Prophet (pbuh), the main causes of destruction of these communities are: idolatry, persecution, their incredible perversions and their rebellion against Almighty God. Additionally, some societies attempted to harm their prophets by refusing to believe in them. Those who oppose God and the path guided by the prophets will sooner or later face the painful torment and harsh manifestations of divine power. This is an inevitable and immutable divine law.
There are many tribes that were destroyed in history. Here are these tribes and the reasons for their destruction.:
The Destruction of Nimrod and His People
Hz. Ibrahim (as) living in the era king NimrodHe was in great arrogance and pride. This cruel king was someone who encouraged many evils that led his people to the wrath of God Almighty. He was a person who saw himself as a god, wore a crown, and invited people to worship him. Nimrod is known as the first spreader of evil on earth.
In order to be protected from any trouble that would befall Nimrod and the Chaldean tribe and to be able to worship comfortably, God Almighty sent the Prophet. He ordered Abraham (pbuh) and those who believed in him to migrate. Hz. Abraham and those with him obeyed this order and migrated.
Hz. Abraham is known as the Khalil of Allah and after his migration, Allah Almighty sent swarms of mosquitoes on Nimrod and the Chaldean tribe. Mosquitoes sucked people’s blood and the people dried up with thirst. A mosquito entered Nimrod’s nose. Because of his headache, Nimrod had the person next to him hit him with a mallet to remove the fly. However, the final blow caused Nimrod’s skull to shatter and his soul went to eternal hell. This was the end of Nimrod’s destruction.
The Destruction of the People of Ad
The People of Ad, They are an Arab tribe frequently mentioned in the Holy Quran. They consisted of approximately 23 tribes and lived in the Yemen region. The People of Ad, Hz. Noah’s It is one of the first communities to return to the world after Noah’s Flood. However, over time, they moved away from God, forgot their religion, and deviated into idolatry. The People of Ad committed polytheism by worshiping various gods.
This community has also strayed into oppression. They oppressed, humiliated and treated the weak and defenseless. They also killed innocent people by taking them to the top of tall buildings and throwing them from there. This They went against human values with their wild behavior. The People of Ad saw this by looking at the dismembered bodies of the dead. They turned brutality into entertainment.

The people of Ad, who turned away from God’s blessings, with the punishment of wind and drought faced. Hz. Hud (as) made great efforts to warn this nation and help them return to the right path. However, his people refused to give up their rebellion and said to Hud: “Whether you give advice or not, it does not matter to us. “We will resist stubbornly.” (Ash-Shuara, 136).
After these rebellions, God first stopped sending rain, and as a result, drought covered the entire region. Famous in history Irem Vineyards even dried up. After the drought, a terrible wind blew for eight days and dried everything. However, Allah, Hz. He protected Hud and those who believed in him from these torments and disasters.
The reasons for the destruction of the People of Ad are filled with a number of serious accusations such as rebellion against God, idolatry, cruelty, disrespect for human values and moral degradation. For this reason, the People of Ad have a special place among the communities that were destroyed in history. By not heeding God’s warnings and the teachings of the prophets, they led to their own destruction.
The Destruction of Noah’s People
Hz. Prophet Noah’s peoplewas a community living in deep blasphemy and perversion. They worshiped idols and associated partners with Allah. They also treated poor people badly, inflicting brutal cruelty on them, and even after their cruelty, they claimed to be superior. Women in the tribe have moved away from moral values, lost their chastity and become overly fond of worldly pleasures. The Holy Quran has verses that give information about the cruelty and destruction of the Prophet Noah’s people. It is not possible to convey all of them, but our Lord says in the Holy Quran: “We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them for 950 years. Finally, while they were continuing their oppression, the flood overtook them. But we saved him and those on the ship. We made this a lesson to the worlds.” (Ankebut, 14-15).
The Destruction of the People of Lot

However, the people of Lot did not listen to their prophet and even threatened to exile him. Going further, the leaders of the Prophet Lut’s (pbuh) tribe said: “If you are truly a prophet and speak the truth, bring us the punishment you promised!”
God Almighty, Hz. He accepted the prayer of Lut (as) and sent Gabriel, Michael and Israfil to Hz. He took the prophet Lot and those who believed in him out of the city. in the early morning He rained down stones in layers of clay on the city.I. As a result of this torment, the people of Lot, Hz. Lot’s (as) wife was also destroyed.
The reasons for the destruction of the people of Lot are as follows: men getting close to men, torturing the oppressed, killing men by using violence, excessive stinginess and various rebellions. These sins led to the destruction of the people of the Prophet Lot.
Destruction of Thamud Tribe
Hz. Salih’s The society to which Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was assigned to convey the message is described in the Holy Quran as a nation that did not believe and was in many heresies. After the destruction of the Ad tribe, they lived in the Hijr region.
Thamud tribe, They believed that they had riches beyond the blessings of the people of Ad. According to their beliefs, the people of Ad perished because they could not build solid buildings. For this reason, the Thamud tribe began to build incredibly strong mansions, palaces and houses by carving the rocks.
The Thamud tribe was asked by their leader Canda to make an idol that was unique in their tribe. These chiefs had a large idol built by working the rocks in the mountains. This idol had features such as eyes, cow breast and horse feet. They decorated the idols with gold and silver and began to worship them. Hz. Salih (as) was an honest person engaged in trade and was respected in the society.
However, Allah, Hz. When he appointed Salih as a prophet and began to call people to believe in one God, his people suddenly became enemies of him. Hz. They killed the camel that came out like a rock, which Salih showed as a miracle, in order to harm it. Also Hz. They decided to kill Salih.
Hz. Salih (as) and those who believed in him were taken under the protection of Allah and God Almighty placed upon his people He sent violent tremors, terrible sounds, thunder and lightning. These disasters continued for three days and as a result, Hz. Salih’s people were destroyed.
The Destruction of Pharaoh and His People
Another community destroyed in the Holy Quran pharaoh and those who follow him. Pharaohs is a general name given to the kings of ancient Egypt. the children of Israel They made them work like slaves in heavy and difficult work. Pharaohs and local Copts forced the Israelites to do hard labor. The Israelites wanted to get rid of Pharaoh and go to their ancestral homeland, Canaan, but they could not achieve this.
Pharaoh began killing male children born to Israelites after the oracle said that a child would end his reign. Meanwhile, Hz. Moses (as) was born and grew up in Pharaoh’s palace. Hz. Moses (pbuh) invited Pharaoh and the Copts to believe in monotheism, but Pharaoh did not believe and accepted their gods and was eventually destroyed with his army in the sea.
These events are described in the Quran as follows: “We will tell you the truth of some of the news of Moses and Pharaoh for a people who believe. There is no doubt that Pharaoh was arrogant in the earth (his country) and divided its people into classes. He oppressed some of them, slaughtered their sons, and left their women alive. Surely he was one of the corrupters.” (Qasas, 28/3-4).
“Then he said to Moses, ‘Strike the sea with your staff.’ We revealed: The sea immediately parted. Every piece of it was like a huge mountain. We brought the others closer to there. We saved Moses and all those with him. Then we drowned the others in water.” (Shuara 26/63, 66)
Hz. Moses (pbuh) miraculously escaped from Pharaoh’s hands and grew up in his palace. Pharaoh and the Prophet. The invitation to monotheism and the struggle between Moses (pbuh) eventually resulted in the destruction of Pharaoh and his army at sea.
The main reasons why these tribes and others like them were destroyed was that they did not believe in God, were cruel, and committed other sins. Denying Allah, rejecting the prophets, oppressing and rebelling are the common characteristics of the destroyed communities.
